CREATIVE CAMPS IN NATURE
FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH
Regularly we host weekend and week long creative camps in nature for children and youth. The base is in the Indian Village with two tipis, outdoor kitchen and fireplace, common bathroom and toilet. Children are accompanied by two caretakers and one or more mentors who initiate, guide and supervise the creative activities in the natural environment. They may engage with story-telling, theatre, building, dance, music, carving, painting, sculpting, film, cooking, making fire and such. Collective creative processes address imagination, embodiment, hands-on work and are accompanied by lots of free play.
The creative camps always take on a different focus and skills being developed but are really a series of endeavours to, together with children, develop over time, the imaginary labyrinth in the magical forest next to the running stream. Every camp focuses on building or contributing to one specific station such as ‘Indian village’, ‘Whispering tree’, ‘Swing playground’, ‘Sleepers’, ‘Reading Room’. These are weaved together into a story, into an immersive experience one can undergo as one dwells here or just visits the site.
